Though the terms "civil service" and "civil servant" apply to persons who serve the Republic state apparatus in all its levels, including local government agencies and emergency services, the official term Republic Civil Service denotes civilians participating in salaried military-related work. These include technical experts, construction personnel, logistical services, scientists and researchers, instructors and civilian liasons.

These individuals are ranked according to their respective expertice, mostly corresponding military officers and warrant officers. Civilian contractors usually head large groups of regular soldiers to use as assistants or a capable labor force, i.e. a construction supervisor could use other civil servants, military engineers and technicians in their task.

Civil contractees are STRICTLY non-combatants. But they can follow rear-eschelon units into the field.

Rank is divided into five CS paygrades:
CS-1 Civil Servant (OR-3) is the general worker, if military personnel are not suitable for labor or as assistants.
CS-2 "Foreman"(OR-6) leads small groups of CS-1s. S/he is the first supervisor for workers working on projects.
CS-3 "Supervisor" (OF-1)) leads work forces, usually specialized into a certain task (e.g. in construction masons, carpenters, electronics fitters, etc.)
CS-4 "Overseer" (OF-2) is the head in-situ, heading projects in the field and reporting to the next level.
CS-5 Administrator (OF-3) is the overall leader of a civil servant task group, heading large projects for which the military has outsourced help. S/he reports to a military official(s) who has been selected as project lead.

Each arm of service can hire or outsource their own civil servants. Thus the uniform color is defined by the arm that hired them.

Branch color indicates the field in which the civil servant specializes:

White: Research
Includes the fields of physics, biology, chemistry, linguistics, mathematics, cryptography, history, xenoanthropology, programming, psychology, etc. Cross fields researchers are also hired for weapons research, metallurgy, cybernetics, mancy abilities, etc.

Black: Manufacture
The acquisition and securing militarily sensitive raw materials, the refinement and processing of such materials, and the manufacture and production of military goods and components.

Indigo: Construction
Production, assembly, repair, and construction of military assets (e.g. ships, structures, large vehicles). Demolition, excavation, fitting, etc.

Grey: Medicine
Medicinal supply research and manufacture, pharmacy, medical services and hospitals.

Crimson: Civil Relations
Public relations specialists: Journalists, publicists, spokesmen, advertisement, artistry, recruitment, information services.

Blue: Support and Logistics
Acquisitíon and distribution of military materiel and products: food, consumer electronics, components, general consumer goods, decorations, artwork, small utility vehicles. Provides logistical support between bases and manufacturing centers.

Gold: Emergency Services and Police
Fire services, police services (where MPs are not applicable), forensic services, prison facilities.
