Basic description of the flag: A phoenix with spread wings emerging from a radiant white star, set upon sable space.
The number of rays on the star reflects the Republic coat of arms: 8 major arms for the eight founding allies, and the total number of 48 rays for the human colonies who founded the Republic with the Eight.
The flag follows a 5:8 size ratio, where the flag's width is one sixth of the length of the flagpole it's flown from.
The state flag is reserved to be used only on Republic government property and anywhere belonging to the state apparatus (courts, the Senate or the Parliament).
