Republican Guard Patchby ~Tounushi

Senatorial/Presidential Guard Patch. The patch is sewn onto the sleeve of the Guards of the Offices of the Republic: the selected soldiers protecting the Republic Senate, the Republic Parliament and the offices of the Chancellor, Prime Minister and the President.

The Republic has a bicameral legislative body: the Senate (where the senators representing the members of the Republic are gathered, much like the UN main council), the Parliament (the MPs are representatives of the people of the Republic, from these the ministers of government are elected). The Senate is led by the Chancellor, and the Government is led by the Prime Minister.
When the Republic was formed, the Offices were guarded by a company of selected soldiers. As the Republic grew, the unit also grew, until it encompassed an entire division. At this point, the training also intensified and the division branched off to form the RSS, which also took on the mantle of the special forces that had existed before.

The soldiers on guard wear the dress uniform with their swords girt, a rifle slung on their back a vibro-bladed halberd on their hand, the gorget on their neck and a painted steel helmet on their head. Usually an armorfabric vest is worn under the uniform.

The patch is worn on the right shoulder of the uniform, serving the purpose of a divisional patch (as you NEED a division for the intended purpose). The patch signifies the 1st Guards Division, or simply the Republican Guard.

The patch reads in latin Res Publica, Senatus, Populus, Aeterna (Republic, Senate, People, Forever).
